My Website Has Been Hacked! Now What?

I guess that one of the reasons I had trouble falling asleep Saturday night was that when I checked in on my blogs, email etc after Shabbat I had a shock. Someone had gotten into my Shiloh Musings blog, and could have done the same on this, and posted a "message" with link. I was terrified. Would I be able to retake control of my blogs and email?

I managed to delete the post and then change my password. And as soon as I changed it on the computer, the phone announced that I would have to do it there, too. So, I changed it. Now I must remember the new password... Also, a cousin messaged me that he had gotten one of those "hack/virus" messages from my email.

Yes, I feel violated, freaked out totally!

And since I was able to change my password, it meant that the hacker didn't have mine. He/she/it or whoever may have gotten into my account on a "device" I had used to check email/blog while not at home. Many of us who travel without a laptop, tablet or really powerful phone, find ourselves taking advantage of offers to use other people's computers, or hotel lobby computers, and sometimes we either don't properly sign out/log off or a lurking virus takes hold when we're happily reading and writing.

I also took off a few people I had as "administrators" on my blogs. They can still blog, but they cannot make changes.

I don't think I've clicked any dangerous sites, but one doesn't really know. Sometimes there are viruses lurking in news, pictures and lyrics sites that google lists when we search for something. (Porn sites are notorious for facilitating virus invasions, but, B"H, that's not my interest.) I am so relieved that I succeeded in changing my password and hope that locked the evil one out. The person who set up my computer put in the free AVast virus catcher. I guess it's not effective enough, unless, as I am guessing, that the problem came from a different device, not my home computer.

PS The article I found with the illustration above said I should also clean up my "history" and "cookies," which I did which has now gotten me totally messed up, since I must relog into absolutely everything. And to do it, I have to remember all my passwords...

After all, there is no point writing anything which will never be read. To make sure your content reaches a wider audience, share your posts relentlessly.

2. Use other blogger’s audience.

Always work on establishing relationships with fellow bloggers in your own niche or the niche which is related to yours. For example: If you are a website designer and you also blog, reach out to graphic designers who own a community or blog and ask them to share your posts.
Make sure you aren’t trying to establish a parasitic relationship. It should be mutually beneficial.
Using this strategy you are trying to reach people who you would have never got to reach otherwise. Another way to drive others audience at your blog is by guest posting on popular blogs.
Do not spend time guest posting on scammy blogs, rather choose blogs which have a genuine followers base. It doesn’t matters if they have a small following or large what matters is, do they believe in providing value or not.

3. Earn quality backlinks.

Earn a few quality backlinks. Well, this sounds like an odd piece of advice, but this is the most helpful tip of all. Getting other popular or authority bloggers linking to you can get you massive traffic.
One single quality backlink is better than the hundreds of spammy backlinks. Getting quality backlinks also helps you win the SEO game. Backlinks act as a vote. More backlinks to your blog means more votes for your blog. Higher the number of votes (backlinks), the better the search engine rankings.
Building relationship with influencers can help you get some quality backlinks. Some blogs even link back to their guest blogger’s blog. So, guest blogging too is a good way to earn quality backlinks.
Remember to EARN backlinks and not BUILD them.

My Advice to younger bloggers

When you intend to do something innovative in life, people will tell you that you can not do it but when you prove that you can, the same person would ask you: How you did it? So don't give up and keep blogging humbly.
Blogging requires a little hard work but a lot of patience. It lets you to communicate with a multicultural online world of 2.2 Billion people, each of them is eager to find out, what have you got to share. So respect this opportunity and work hard with sincerity. Blog only to spread knowledge and love. Give more value to Quality content, respect Copyrights, your Readers and hate Blogging for money alone. I am blogging since before i go to University but I still feel like a newbie and this is what that keeps me pushing to do more. I can say start blogging around 2011 but i make blog as part of my Life in 2013. If Allah spare my life i will start teaching My son Blogging when he was 7 Years old.
Blogging is about building relations so remain humble and friendly to everyone especially to those who remained your first mentors. Ego will take you back where you came from. Treat Blogosphere as your family always.
